How we verify

Sources, in order

• The clinic's own website: hours, species, emergency policy, payment options. Republished as facts with a checked date; no site text is copied wholesale.
• State license rosters: Tennessee Dept of Health license verification for TN clinics, Mississippi and Arkansas boards for the DeSoto County and West Memphis sides. TN.gov's published linking policy permits copying TN.gov information with attribution and without implying endorsement; we use low-volume per-clinic lookups.
• Shelby County's public new-business-license feed as new-clinic alerts (data provided "as is", "not for official use").

What we exclude

• Google Maps / Places: their terms restrict scraping, storing and caching business data, so nothing is copied from Google. Every listing links out so you can cross-check yourself.
• Yelp, Facebook, Nextdoor: login-walled or reuse-restricted.

Refresh and honest limits

• Hours pages are re-fetched and reviewed before listings update. Automated weekly re-checks are being set up; they confirm whether the hours we publish still appear on the clinic's own page. No check catches every change, so every listing keeps its checked date and call-first advice.
• A clinic whose stated hours have not been re-verified for more than 14 days drops off the open-now page and is labeled "hours not verified since" with its actual last-checked date, until it is re-verified.
• We verify what clinics state, freshly checked - not live intake capacity. Call first.

Corrections

Sponsored placements. None are active today and no clinic pays for placement or labels. If sponsored placement is ever offered, those cards will be marked "Sponsored" and kept visually separate from the directory; directory order itself is never sold.
